SolarFlare Preview
You are the cyber-fox. Your goal is to eliminate your three enemies.
Actions
Each turn, you can take one of four Actions:
- Step: Move to an adjacent unblocked hex
- Attack: Deal 100 damage to an adjacent (Range: 1) enemy
- Pass: Do nothing.
- Hack: [Not Yet Implemented]
As you can see, by default, these are quite boring. Fortunately, you can improve and transform all of these by purchasing Upgrades (see below), which constitute your character's build.
Controls
- QWEASD - Step (or Attack) to the NW, N, NE, SW, S, or SE
- Space - Pass
- Click a hex
- If there's an in-range enemy there, attack them
- If you are there, Pass turn
- Else, move towards that hex
Co-op
You can play alongside a friend, who is also a cyber-fox. When you click a button to buy Upgrades, those Upgrades will only apply to you. Synergize!
One of you will have to host; click the Host Game button, and give your friend the join code. They will enter the join code, and click Join Game. Once the host sees two foxes on the screen, they can start the game by clicking Start Game.
Upgrades
The upper-left buttons can be clicked to acquire Upgrades, which improve your character. You can and should buy an Upgrade multiple times: each time you click the button, you get another rank (R) of the Upgrade.
- Force Field (Projector): +20R Defense. On Game Turn, gain R stacks (S) of the Force Field effect.
- Force Field: When you take damage, reduce that damage by 100 and remove one stack. Lose all stacks on Game Turn.
- Growl: On Pass, the nearest 2R enemies are pushed 2 away.
- Pistol: +R Range. -10R Attack damage.
- Plasma Blade: +20R Attack damage. On Attack, apply 5R Persistent Damage effect.
- Persistent Damage: On Game Turn, take S damage and lose half stacks.
- Sniper: +R Range. +50R Damage. On Attack, gain the Reload effect.
- Reload: You cannot Attack. Pass to remove this effect.
- Spines: When you take damage, the attacker takes 50R damage.
Known Issues
This is a prototype, so there are a near-infinite number of known issues. But to name a few:
- There is no way to view your current stats (including HP), or enemy stats.
- Upgrades should not be free; they should cost points that you earn as you complete ever-harder fights.
- The Upgrade buttons cover up the hexes, so when you click one you also click the other.
- After a fight ends, there is no way to continue aside from restarting.
- In the web version, turns are too slow.
- In multiplayer, there's no way to easily tell which cyber-fox is yours.
